How to choose a phone lanyard
The risk is loss, not impact. A lanyard solves a different problem from a case. A case protects the phone when it lands; a lanyard stops it landing at all, or stops it sinking when it lands in water.
Floating versus fixed. A floating lanyard keeps the phone at the surface if it goes into water, which matters on boats, kayaks and at the beach. A wrist strap is the lighter everyday option for crowds, markets and public transport.
Crossbody for hands-free. A shoulder strap carries the phone across the body and leaves both hands free — useful when travelling with luggage, navigating, or shooting photos while moving.

Will a lanyard work with any case?
Attachment depends on the case having lanyard points or a compatible mount. Check the product for which cases it attaches to before buying.
What does a floating lanyard actually do?
It keeps the phone at the water surface instead of sinking, which is the point of failure on boats, kayaks and at the beach. A standard wrist strap does not float.
What is the difference between a wrist strap and a crossbody strap?
A wrist strap is lighter and keeps the phone in your hand. A crossbody shoulder strap carries it across the body and leaves both hands free.
